About Us

The Baha'i community in Luton is a vibrant part of the global Baha'i Faith, which emphasises the unity of humanity and the importance of world peace. Founded by Baha'u'llah in the mid-19th century, the Baha'i Faith is rooted in the teachings of key figures such as The Báb, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, and Shoghi Effendi, as well as the guidance of the Universal House of Justice.

Our Beliefs

Bahá’u’lláh and His Covenant

At the heart of our Faith is the understanding of Bahá’u’lláh as the latest in a line of prophets, including the Báb. His teachings form the foundation of the Baha'i Faith, which advocates for the distinctive unity of all people and the establishment of a just and peaceful society.

The Life of the Spirit

We believe in the eternal nature of the soul and the purpose of life, which is to develop spiritual qualities. Our community encourages:

  • Devotion: Cultivating a personal relationship with God through prayer and meditation.

  • A Life of Generous Giving: Sharing our time, talents, and resources with others.

  • Character and Conduct: Upholding high moral standards and ethical behaviour in all aspects of life.

God and His Creation

Our teachings address the relationship between God, revelation, and humanity. We recognise:

  • Revelation: The process through which God communicates with humanity through prophets.

  • Nature: The natural world as a reflection of divine creation that deserves our care and respect.

  • An Ever-Advancing Civilisation: Our belief in progress and the capacity for humanity to advance collectively towards a better future.

Essential Relationships

We emphasise the development of relationships that reflect the principle of the oneness of humanity:

  • The Individual and Society: The importance of each person's contribution to the welfare of the community.

  • One Human Family: Promoting unity among all people, regardless of race, nationality, or religion.

  • The Bahá’í Administrative Order: A system of governance that ensures the functioning of our community and upholds our principles.

Universal Peace

We are committed to the principles required for the attainment of peace and the building of a new global civilization. We believe in:

  • The Promise of World Peace: A vision where all nations and peoples work together harmoniously.

Bahá’u’lláh

He Who is your Lord, the All-Merciful, cherisheth in His heart the desire of beholding the entire human race as one soul and one body.
